Anniversary Brings New Look and New Menu to Alpharetta Institution

Offering traditional Southern fare and new, upscale dishes along with a full bar and extensive dessert alternatives, Alpha Soda is a great restaurant in which to dine with your family and friends. The recent interior renovation, crafted by designer Dion George, is elegant and at the same time warmly welcoming. Alpha Soda is the essence of the late 1920s Art Deco-style diner. It is a glorious setting for a quiet dinner, where visitors can enjoy flavorful and hearty contemporary cuisine alongside traditional southern influenced American fare. American regional flavors, California-influenced style and enthralling design come together to complete the entire experience at Alpha Soda. Located in the revived downtown of Historic Alpharetta, the diner is an exceptional stop for any meal or a drink while visiting Alpharetta.

Owners George Petrakopoulos and Sam Mellas have been improving the diner since they purchased it in 1991. Alpha Soda was originally established in 1920 and consideration has been taken to return some of the restaurant's original character. The interior has been transformed to reflect a style that whispers the "roaring 20s" and "dirty 30s."

Patrons are greeted with warm lighting and cherry paneling, plush booths and chairs, and enchanting big band music softly playing over the restaurant's sound system. From the black and white checkered floor tiles to the stamped tin ceiling tiles, no detail has been overlooked.

Alpha Soda's menu is extensive, offering full breakfast, lunch and dinner. The owners' goal is to take Alpha Soda's menu in a new, contemporary direction while maintaining the classic dishes that have made the restaurant a local institution. Alpha Soda is famous for entrees such as fried chicken, country fried steak, meatloaf and fresh homemade vegetables. The menu has been improved to include charbroiled steaks and chops, fresh seafood entrees such as Maryland Crab Cakes & Herb Salmon, and an even larger selection of salads & sandwiches. To add to the enjoyment of any meal, Alpha Soda boasts a full bar serving domestic and imported beer, wine and liquor. The covered patio makes for a great dining atmosphere on mild spring and summer evenings.

Good and Cheap: Meals for under $10
American (Casual): This Alpharetta landmark opened as a drugstore soda fountain in 1920 and is still going strong. Three hearty, home style meals a day, a soda fountain and two cases filled with enticing desserts are its draws. The menu ranges from chili cheeseburgers to rainbow trout, with a larger-than-usual children's menu.
