Atlanta has grown dramatically over the past century and the beginning of the twenty-first, and Alpha Soda has grown along with it. However, our goal has remained the same: to provide heaping helpings of homemade dishes in a courteous, friendly atmosphere. This philosophy has established Alpha Soda as one of Atlanta's favorite restaurants, and Alpharetta's favorite gathering place.

In 1920, Louis Jones opened a soda fountain in the back of his medicine shop, and Alpha Soda was born. There have been many owners over the years, and the location has changed because of the popular demand. We would like to pay tribute to the past owners, all of whom played key roles in the development of Alpha Soda:

1956 - moved to City Hall
1957 - King
1967 - Deese
1974 - Walker

1986 - Harry & Joyce Thigpan
1990 - moved to Alpharetta Crossing Shopping Center
1991 - George Petrakopoulos & Sam Mellas
1995 - moved to present location (permanently?)

In 2002 the current restaurant was renovated to its full 1920s Art Deco splendor and gave the menu a contemporary make over which was perfected through the suggested of our customers. Alpha Soda established a permanent home on the restaurant's 75th anniversary when its owners purchased a lot and built the new restaurant just blocks away from its birthplace. We thought those first years at the new location were the busiest the restaurant would ever see until we completed renovation in 2003. Alpharetta was growing and we felt it was time to give the store the special love it always deserved.
